Chanel Ankle Bag

Today I'm going to introduce you to Karl’s new creation which was shown during the spring ’08 Chanel show . It is a slightly ridiculous trend . On the other hand , it is definitely a fashion forward idea which will definitely make a great fuss!

Karl Lagerfeld has really excelled himself this season by creating the latest must have accessory, the ankle purse. Weirdo??? No “an innovation” said the Austrian designer!

Instead of looking for your lipstick or coin purse in vain inside your huge bag, with this ankle strap mini purse everything is easier, you just have to lean and stretch out your arm to your ankle and unzip it and there you are… Handy, isn’t it???? I don’t even mention all the small things you can slip into it like for instance your credit card, phone, keys, coins, condoms, tampons or cigarettes…

There are three different colors such as red ,black and gold with enameled and mat leather as quirky patchwork version. It does not only match comfortable outfits like short pants, jeans or skirts but also fabulous and luxurious outfits just like those shown below.

Clever Karl!! Yes… because, just like his predecessor Coco Chanel who released women from coventionnal tight corsets by introducing them to loose and comfortable clothes, here Mister Lagarfeld frees their shoulders and hands from the burden of a heavy bag!

But not so clever if you take a closer look at the concept you can not but think about another object, another accessory, but this one nobody, at least only if Miss Justice, another very famous designer, requires you to get it , really nobody wants to wear it!!! Yes we are talking about the alcohol monitoring bracelets!

Well, famous people such as Michelle Rodriguez or Lindsay Lohan, who is by the way one of Karl’s source of inspiration, have been seen on the red carpets with it lately…

So, do you still think it’s clever? I can feel you are in two minds right now…

Nevermind… Lindsey, Britney, Paris or Nicole will be delighted to rush into stores, get their own and hide there little secrets…!!!

(Thanx to Hanna... who also contributed to this presentation for our english fashion lecture!)
